The Wilkinson and Ashworth Tragedy at Hawes Water
On the evening of Friday 10th July 1874, cousins, Robert Noble Wilkinson aged 15, and George Ashworth aged 18, were tragically drowned while bathing at Low Water at the north-east end of the valley of Mardale and Hawes Water.
