Keith Driver and his faithful friend, Reuben, joined me on a summit camp in the Langdales. We headed up Stickle Ghyll with the intention of camping near the summit of Sergeant Man. However, on arrival gut instinct took us over to investigate Codale Head and we found two nice pitches on the summit there. It was great to see the Golite Shangri-La 3 and the Kuiu Storm Star together. It was very cold and windy when we arrived, but the forecast predicted it to be clearer and lighter winds throughout the night. We woke the next morning to wonderful conditions; the tents were totally frozen over but the skies were clear and we witnessed a fantastic sunrise. We soon packed up and continued on our way to High Raise and Thunacar Knott. We were then spoilt on options for our return journey back down into the valley of Langdale. In the end we decided on the Mark Gate route.
It was a pleasure to bump into YouTuber Kris Gleave at the base of Stickle Ghyll before we set off on our adventure. He was heading up to climb Jack’s Rake on Pavey Ark.
