It was great to be on the fells again. It had been a while for one reason or another, but mainly because of health issues and the horrible haze we’ve witnessed in the Lakes for the last few months. It just wasn’t worth taking the camera out at all, so I lost my mojo for quite some time through the summer months. On this fairly short walk from Kirkstone Pass, it was still very hazy though; we had intended a long linear walk from Patterdale to Troutbeck, but on route we decided on an exploration of Woundale, visiting the old peat hut and Woundale Quarry on St Raven’s Edge. I’m writing a short local history story about this remote hut so it was nice to take a good look around it. Here’s looking forward to the colder and clearer months of autumn.
