A very moody and wet-underfoot walk today with Paul Nellist, who is a long-distance path team member for the LDWA. We headed through the mirk — unorthodoxly, and partly by accident — to Gavel Fell from Lanthwaite Green, then returned via Floutern Pass and along the shore of Crummock Water. It was an absolute pleasure to meet up and chat with Paul about many of our long-distance paths and the exciting future developments of the Long Distance Walkers Association, who from the outset have embraced and promoted the Lakeland Way since it went live at the end of 2023. Paul also made me aware that in recent months, group members have actually been walking sections of the Lakeland Way, which was great to hear. Many thanks, Paul — hope to see you again soon.
