It was great to be on the fells again. It had been a while for one reason or another, but mainly because of health issues and the horrible haze we’ve witnessed in the Lakes over the last few months. It just wasn’t worth taking the camera out at all, so I lost my mojo for quite some time through the summer months. On this fairly short walk from Kirkstone Pass, it was still very hazy, though. We had intended a long linear walk from Patterdale to Troutbeck, but en route we decided on an exploration of Woundale, visiting the old peat hut and Woundale Quarry on St Raven’s Edge. I’m writing a short local history piece about this remote hut, so it was nice to take a good look around it. Here’s looking forward to the colder and clearer months of autumn.
