With the forecast being strong gales and haze for this morning, I decided to do a low-levelish ‘boots and jeans’ walk around the nature reserve of Eycott Hill and the old quarry sites on Aughertree Fell. For being a good boy, I rewarded myself with cake and coffee at Mae’s Tea Rooms in Uldale afterwards. I didn’t see a single soul all morning, not until I reached the cafe where I met and chatted with two cycling chaps from my home town in Cockermouth. The nature reserve isn’t ideal for dog walking of course, but on Aughertree Fell Tika was let loose to run wild! It’s great to have locations like this that are basically on my doorstep.
