With the forecast predicting strong gales and haze this morning, I decided to do a low-levelish, “boots and jeans” walk around the nature reserve of Eycott Hill, followed by a visit to the old quarry sites on Aughertree Fell
As a reward for being a good boy, I treated myself to cake and coffee at Mae’s Tea Rooms in Uldale afterwards.
I didn’t see a single soul all morning — not until I reached the café, where I met and chatted with two cycling chaps from my home town of Cockermouth. The nature reserve isn’t ideal for dog walking, of course, but on Aughertree Fell Tika was let loose to run wild!
It’s great to have locations like this that are basically on my doorstep.
