A rather special morning today, as I got to meet two great chaps while on their Lakeland Way journey. I travelled to Ravenglass and walked along the beach with them as far as the tidal crossing at Eskmeals, which was only a mile or so from the village, before returning via part of the Esk Trail.

Warwick had travelled all the way from Australia to spend two months over here and planned to walk the LW with his friend Roger, an ex-Aussie now living in Lancashire. They started the walk at Grasmere, so Ravenglass is actually near their halfway point along the route.

I waved goodbye at the estuary, then visited the Roman Bathhouse and noticed a new information board depicting naked Roman soldiers!

I then popped in at the Camping and Caravan Club, and a special mention must be given to the team there, who have very kindly placed the Lakeland Way map in a prime location on their notice board. I really appreciate that so many businesses are embracing the project like they have. Many thanks to you all.

I finished my morning at the Steam Railway Café with coffee and Yorkshire crisps — other county crisps are available, of course, but they leave a bitter taste in the mouth. Sorry, Roger!
