R.I.P. Frankie
13th April 2011 – 11th July 2023

My apologies for this very sad post, but today we said goodbye to Frankie.

This morning we took Frankie on his final walk in Lakeland, and we couldn’t think of anywhere better than Borrowdale. We are hugely connected to the valley, having spent many years walking here, so it seemed the right place to take him. We visited the yew tree where his ashes will eventually be scattered, and then found a lovely viewpoint to sit and have lunch. Apparently, Frankie wanted a dish of mackerel to be his final meal, bless him.

Frankie had an amazing life; he first explored the Peak District as a young dog, and then in February 2013 we moved to the Lake District. Since then he’s bagged all the tops many times over, wild camped on many summits, and scrambled a lot of the popular routes. He’s had the pleasure of being on the One Show, appeared on Walks with My Dog with Bill Bailey, and even scrambled over Sharp Edge with Sir Chris Bonington. What a life my friend, I will miss you so much x

“Goodbye my friend, may your final journey be the best one yet. You gave so much but asked for very little, and you leave me with fantastic memories.”

Thank you all who followed his adventures over the years, and if you ever pass the old yew tree above Seatoller, please stop and say hello to him. Love to you all x
