Lakeland Way.
As well as doing the original recce, and a few more visits to see the progress on the new Aira Force platforms, we walked the whole of Day 6 – Dockray to Patterdale twice in autumn last year to try and capture this section in full colour. Sadly though, it wasn’t to be; this time of the year, in early November when the autumn colours are at their best, the valleys of Glenridding and Grisedale have very little sunlight. This is due to the huge masses of Birkhouse Moor and St Sunday Crag towards the end of the walk, which blanket both valleys in shade for much of the day. Thankfully, some of the sections we’ve managed to capture in autumn, but the photos for this one will now have to be taken in spring. It is frustrating, but worth the effort to get the job done right.
