I went to a fascinating talk today about Cumbrian gravestones, which was presented by Mark Hatton at the Armitt Museum in Ambleside. I came away with a wealth of knowledge about the artistry and the meanings behind them.

The talk wasn’t until 2pm, so to make the most of the day we visited Clappersgate and on to Fishgarths Wood to see the bluebells, followed by a walk around Holy Trinity Church, where we had lunch.

We finished the day with a bit of shopping at Hayes Garden Centre.
