Today Jaclyn and I headed over to Honister Hause. From there, we climbed the direct route up to Grey Knotts and visited all the rocky knolls and lovely tarns dotted about on the plateau. It was then a quick dash over the dreary top of Brandreth before continuing along Moses’ Trod to Stony Cove.

The reason for visiting Stony Cove was to search the area for the ‘burning sites’ of the Avro Anson DJ410, which crashed in this cove on 1st October 1942.

Having climbed out of the cove to Windy Gap, we then visited the other Anson crash site on Green Gable. It was then a straightforward descent back to Honister Hause, followed by a coffee stop at the Glaramara Hotel, where we bumped into our friend Ann Bristow, and Catrina Hudson, who was celebrating her birthday with a large group of friends at the hotel.
