An absolutely beautiful day for photography, visiting Raise via Nick Head and Sticks Pass, before returning down into the Glenridding Valley and along the shore of Ullswater.

It has certainly been a day of traversing and great scenery, and, for me anyway, aching knees. Having been hibernating for much of the hot, hazy summer, I really need to get hill fit again. Thankfully, though, the weather outlook for the rest of October is looking promising, and hopefully I’ll manage to squeeze in a couple of mountain camps. After all, we have a new tent to introduce to the Lakeland Fells, and carrying the extra weight on my back will help me lose some on my front, along with the extra chin that’s developed over the summer!
