Yesterday was a great opportunity to take advantage of a small weather window and have a camp on Tarn Crag, taking the route up via Sourmilk Gill from Grasmere.

Our final ascent was via the less frequented path that rises from Easedale Tarn and then meets the ridge path continuing to the twin summits. I managed to collect some water just before the final climb, although it was just a trickle.

I pitched on a superb flat spot just off the south summit, which provides some shelter from the north-west winds — although it was forecast to be northerly through the night, we had very little wind. We weren’t affected anyway, due to being in the Hilleberg Allak 2.

Dinner was chicken, chorizo, pork sausages, peppers, carrots, onions, mushrooms, and pasta — none of that dehydrated rubbish, as always.

This morning I was planning on heading over to Mere Gill and then descending via Far Easedale. However, due to the amount of cloud about, I decided to head straight down the way I came yesterday.
