I made this small very lightweight table out of an aluminium wardrobe vent and four titanium tent stakes. With a combined weight of 200g, I think the extra weight to your pack is worth it considering how handy it is for keeping pans etc sturdy on long grass and on uneven ground. It can be used outside, in a vestibule or on the tent floor when laid flat. I purchased the wardrobe vent from Ebay.
Required:
1 @ 300mm x 150mm aluminium wardrobe vent
4 @ 150mm Easton Nano tent pegs
4 @ M4 X 16mm stainless steel socket cap bolts
4 @ M4 stainless steel nylon lock nuts
1 @ 400mm x 20mm Velcro strap
The table comfortably accommodates the MSR 1300ml Ceramic Solo Pot and the 1400ml Titanium Kettle.
The head of the pegs are ground flat for a tight fit between the aluminium flange and stainless steel nylon lock nut.
The width of the flange needs to be no less than 15mm to accommodate the bolt.
The legs fold in on each other for a snug fit.
The table can be laid flat on the ground, and with added protection it can be used on a tent groundsheet or footprint.
A Velcro strap is really handy to keep the legs tucked tightly in place.
A nice extra benefit is to strap your foam sit-mat to the table and keep it tucked in your rucksack’s external mesh pocket for easy access. The one I’m using here is the Wechsel Facila Seat which only weighs 38g.
